In efforts to broaden its business model, the Company purchased a majority interest in a popular European bartender’s guide. The concept was to use the guide to assist in the development and introduction of new liquor brands. Soon after the merger, significant management conflicts arose between existing management and the editor of the bartender guide.
The Company engaged Phoenix to develop a strategy to resolve these conflicts. Phoenix determined that the synergies expected from the merger were likely to continue to be elusive and the best strategy was to spin out the guide. Working with both management teams, Phoenix assisted in a smooth spinoff of the guide.
